Tokyo – October 2, 2023 – TOPPAN INC. (TYO: 7911), a global leader in communication, security, packaging, décor materials, and electronics solutions, has transitioned to a holding company structure and changed its name to TOPPAN Holdings Inc. as of October 1. Businesses operated by TOPPAN INC. have been transferred to TOPPAN Inc. and TOPPAN Digital Inc., two new operating companies under the holding company. The business operated by the Security Subdivision of TOPPAN INC. was integrated with Toppan Forms Co., Ltd. in April this year, and the combined entity made a fresh start as TOPPAN Edge Inc.
Background
The TOPPAN Group has experienced a challenging operating environment as a result of factors including falling demand for paper media due to a shift to digital information media as well as supply constraints and rising prices for raw materials. However, new forms of demand are expected to expand going forward. These include an increase in demand for digital solutions, prompted by changes in the way we live, and growth for sustainable solutions, driven by rising consciousness of global environmental issues.
The decision to transition to a holding company structure is based on identifying a need for the TOPPAN Group as whole to maximize synergies and adopt a management framework that facilitates optimal allocation of management resources underpinned by enhanced Group governance as well as enabling swift decision-making to respond to the rapidly changing business environment and drive business portfolio transformation.
