Named to Climate Change list for second consecutive year and Water Security list for first time

TOPPAN Holdings Selected to CDP Climate Change and Water Security A Lists for 2024

Tokyo – February 7, 2025 – TOPPAN Holdings Inc. (TYO: 7911) (TOPPAN Holdings) has been recognized for its environment-related disclosure and initiatives with selection to CDP’s 2024 A List for both Climate Change and Water Security. This marks the second successive year that TOPPAN Holdings has been named to the A List for Climate Change and the first time it has been included for Water Security.

CDP is a global non-profit that surveys and assesses the efforts of businesses and subnational governments in relation to target setting, risk management, and disclosure on environmental issues. CDP’s annual assessment process is aligned with the recommendations of the Task Force on Climate-related Financial Disclosures (TCFD) and is renowned as a global standard for evaluating companies’ environment-related activities. In 2024, the number of companies providing disclosures through CDP rose to 24,800, representing two thirds of global market capitalization. More than 2,100 Japanese companies have disclosed data, including over 70% of companies listed on the TSE Prime Market. 

The TOPPAN Group’s Initiatives for the Environment

The TOPPAN Group consistently implements a range of initiatives aimed at accelerating efforts to ensure a sustainable society in which all forms of life can continue to thrive into the future. In 2023, the Group added the theme of “Preserving Biodiversity” to the TOPPAN Group Environmental Vision 2050 and set new targets for biodiversity preservation and optimal water use in its Medium-and-Long-Term Environmental Targets for Fiscal 2030, which are aligned with the target year of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.
 
In January 2024, the TOPPAN Group announced its support for the final recommendations of the Task Force on Nature-related Financial Disclosures (TNFD) and registered its intention to make public disclosures aligned with the TNFD framework in its corporate reporting as an Early Adopter.1 Disclosure in accordance with the TNFD recommendations is included in the TOPPAN Group’s Sustainability Report 2024 and Integrated Report 2024.

The TOPPAN Group also continues to advance measures to achieve ambitious targets for the reduction of greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions. In August 2024, TOPPAN Holdings received new Net-Zero Target validation from the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) for the TOPPAN Group’s GHG emission reduction targets for the entire value chain, including Scope 1, 2, and 3 emissions. Inclusion in two CDP A Lists demonstrates that the TOPPAN Group’s ongoing initiatives in the area of the environment are rated highly based on international standards.

TNFD Adopters are companies and organizations that have registered on the TNFD website their intention to make public disclosures aligned with the TNFD recommendations and are required to make disclosures in accordance with the recommendations in respect of their financial years 2024 or 2025. Early Adopters are those that registered before January 9, 2024.
